“Bouclé” is French for “buckled” which is an accurate description for this type of yarn, where the technique causes the fibre to bend back on itself resulting in a series of loops and circles in the finished yarn. In this workshop, we will discuss the basic recipe for creating Bouclé and will explore how the 3 components of a bouclé (core, wrapper, binder) interact. Participants will get a chance to play with variations in core and wrapping yarn/fibre to see how they affect the final appearance of the yarn. Plan on doing at least 2 samples: one with Mohair, and another with wool. We will play with as many variations as time allows.
*Please note that the amount of fibre needed / used will vary depending on the thickness of yarns spun and the amounts listed above are meant as guidelines. Participants may want to bring more fibre incase they choose to spin thicker yarns, or want to make more samples.
